Notre Dame's injury report once again includes its head coach.

Irish coach Brian Kelly underwent successful surgery Thursday to repair a herniated disc in his back, the school announced.

Kelly is "resting comfortably" following the procedure and should return home this weekend, the school's statement said.

The third-year coach is expected to make a full recovery before preseason camp begins on Aug. 4.
